Os Rosemaling is an explosion of color and unusual brushstroke combinations. The casual brushstroke techniques are so charming and have so much life and energy in them.

Brighter colors and strong contrasts are what have drawn many of us to the Os style. Its colors and style easily complement the modern approach to decorating.

This style was usually done for "gift market traders". Smaller items could easily be sold at the husflidens, shops that sell Norwegian handicrafts, and transported by travelers as a gift for those at home. Many of the smaller pieces traveled with immigrants, as a living token or memory of the homeland they were leaving.
